What Will You Do With Jesus? | Sermon
📘 Short Summary / Outline
Today we look at Pontius Pilate, a man caught between truth, pressure, fear, and responsibility. His brief encounter with Jesus reveals the same decision every person must make: What will you do with Jesus?
1. Pilate Recognized the Truth
(John 18:38; John 19:4; Matthew 27:18)
Pilate knew Jesus was innocent. He recognized truth—but recognition is not the same as faith. Many today acknowledge Jesus without surrendering to Him.
2. Pilate Resisted the Decision
(Luke 23:6–7; John 18:39; Luke 23:22; John 18:37–38)
Instead of acting on what he knew, Pilate tried to avoid responsibility. He stalled, shifted blame, and looked for a way out. Many still resist the decision Jesus calls them to make.
3. Pilate Relinquished Jesus to the Crowd
(John 19:12; Matthew 27:24)
Under pressure, Pilate handed Jesus over. The decision was still his. Eventually, every person must decide what to do with Jesus—no one else can choose for us.
Pilate’s Tragedy:
- He recognized the truth.
- He resisted the decision.
- He relinquished Jesus to the crowd.
Your Invitation:
- Will you receive the truth?
- Will you respond today?
- Will you represent Him this week?
