Simon Peter — Still Welcome at the Table | Sermon
📘 Short Summary / Outline
In today’s message, we look at Simon Peter, a disciple who loved Jesus deeply yet struggled profoundly. As Jesus shares the Last Supper, He reveals Peter’s coming failure—but also His unshakable commitment to restore him. This message reminds us that weak believers are still welcome at the table because Jesus is faithful even when we are not.
1. Pride (Luke 22:33–34; John 15:5)
Peter trusted his own strength instead of his Savior. Jesus teaches that apart from Him, we can do nothing. Self‑confidence without Christ leaves us vulnerable.
2. Prayer (Luke 22:31–32; 1 John 2:1; Romans 8:34)
Jesus prayed for Peter—and He intercedes for us today. He knows our weaknesses, yet He still invites us to His table. His prayers sustain us when our faith falters.
3. Promise (Luke 22:31–32; 1 Corinthians 11:28)
Jesus was committed to Peter’s future, not his failure. Communion is not a reward for our faithfulness but a reminder of His faithfulness. The bread and cup declare that grace restores, strengthens, and sends us forward.
Application:
Peter’s story shows that failure does not disqualify us from fellowship with Jesus. At the table, we find forgiveness, renewal, and the promise of a future shaped by Christ—not by our mistakes.
