✨ Short Summary / Outline

In Part 2 of The Lord’s Prayer, Jesus shifts our focus from God’s glory to our daily needs. Pastor Phil walks through the second half of the prayer, showing how Jesus invites us to bring our physical, spiritual, and moral needs to our Father in heaven. Prayer is not self‑centered—it is child‑centered, rooted in dependence on a loving Father.

1. Ask for Your Daily Needs (Matthew 6:11)

“Give us today our daily bread” reminds us that everything we have comes from God. The notes highlight how this echoes God’s provision of manna—daily, sufficient, and humbling. We depend on Him for physical needs and for the Bread of Life who satisfies our deepest hunger.

2. Ask for God’s Forgiveness as You Forgive Others (Matthew 6:12, 14–15)

Jesus teaches us to seek daily cleansing. Though our justification is complete, our fellowship with the Father requires ongoing confession. The notes emphasize that forgiven people forgive—a heart unwilling to forgive reveals a heart that has forgotten its own mercy.

3. Ask for Deliverance from Temptation and the Evil One (Matthew 6:13)

This petition is a cry for protection and guidance. We ask God to keep us from situations where the enemy could seize an opportunity. As the notes explain, we need a Champion, not an assistant—One who rescues us from Satan’s schemes.

1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us that God always provides a way of escape.

Application:

The Lord’s Prayer teaches us to bring every need—physical, relational, and spiritual—to our Father. He delights to hear us, to forgive us, and to protect us. Prayer is not a ritual; it is a lifeline of grace.
