What Do These Stones Mean? | Sermon | December 28, 2025
📘 Short Summary / Outline
As Israel crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land, God commanded them to build a memorial of stones—a visible reminder of His faithfulness. As we approach a new year, Rev. Phil invites us to reflect on our own “stones of remembrance” and the God who has carried us through every season.
1. The VOYAGE — Israel’s Challenges (Joshua 4:1–4)
- Oppression: Can God really deliver us
- Provision: Can God really sustain us
- Trust: Can God really be obeyed
- Courage: Can God really bring us in
- Jesus reminds us: "Take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
2. The VICTORIES — God’s Power (Joshua 3:14–17)
- God Liberated Them
- God Lived Among Them
- God Led Them
The stones testified that God had done what no one else could.
3. The VISIBILITY — Your Testimony (Joshua 4:6–7)
- Looks Back: Remember what God has done
- Looks Beyond: Trust Him for what’s ahead
Your story becomes a witness to future generations.
Application: As we close the year, we remember God’s faithfulness behind us and trust His providence before us.
